Dave Grohl, known as the frontman of Foo Fighters, teamed up with Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shane Hawkins, son of the late Taylor Hawkins, for a concert at the Rock & Roll Pizza Bar in Simi Valley, California. The trio took the stage under the moniker Chevy Metal, a cover band originally formed by Taylor Hawkins, the former drummer of Foo Fighters who sadly passed away in 2022.
During their performance, Chevy Metal delivered a dynamic set comprising 17 songs. Their playlist included iconic tracks by legendary bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Mötley Crüe. The night kicked off with a rendition of The Police’s “Next To You.” Notably, the musicians paid homage to Van Halen by playing three of their songs: “Jamie’s Cryin,” “Everybody Wants Some!!,” and “Unchained.”
Shane Hawkins is no stranger to Chevy Metal, having previously shared the stage with the ensemble earlier this year in California. In a notable collaboration, Shane joined Sebastian Bach of Skid Row to cover Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath hits.
As for Foo Fighters, they are currently embarked on their first tour following the tragic loss of Taylor Hawkins. During the tour’s inaugural show at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavillion on May 24, Dave Grohl delivered a poignant tribute to the late drummer. Emotions ran high as Grohl shared heartfelt words before transitioning into the song “Cold Day In The Sun,” a composition penned by Hawkins himself.
